Outdoor Space

Our backyard is as plain as a slab of concrete and Adie's bike (and our kiddie pool) so we have been thinking of what we want it to look like. I love the idea of bringing the indoors outside! It should be a space where you want to be and I want to be outside with this beautiful California weather all day. Summer days are longer and having a space where you can be (outside) all day with two little people is perfect and exactly what we're looking for. We have two sliding glass doors that open up to our backyard, one from the kitchen and one from the dining room. The kitchen door side of the back yard would be perfect for the tables and chairs. So easy to bring out our favorite smoothies and snacks and on the other side have a total lounge area with an area for the kids.

I am absolutely loving the idea of that outdoor pizza grill. How fun is that?! I love palm trees, so we would need a few in the backyard along with some other tropical plants and a string of lights for dinner dates outside. I love the wall of potted plants, and it would definitely make the brick wall come to life! Have a couple sections in between trees/plants with the potted wall plants, and what a fun chore for Adie and Aden to water the plants with this water can of course!

I like that the space is simple yet full of style. The umbrella is perfect for days I need to catch up on a good book or blog :) while my little people are playing with sand, coloring or trying to catch bugs. We love to eat outdoors for any meal really, even snack time, my favorite is a smoothie break under the sun! Since we love everything about the beach, the blues and the fish outdoor rug fits right in with our decor. You can see the Florida Room I designed with Douglas Elliman and see why we cannot get enough of the bright colors for our home! Even the little kids table is blue and I want it!!! More for the kids would be a bucket of sand + water (the kids will play for hours), this adventure kit or this campfire set when the summer nights starts to get chilly! Which would also be the cutest for playing inside with Aden's tee-pee I ordered the other day for his birthday! Which the Land of Nod has always been a favorite store of ours but even more so our favorite because the customer service at our South Coast Plaza store is freaking fantastic and I can't thank them enough for all of their help! ... every time we shop! :)

I think poufs need to be in every room of the house and why not outside. Such a fun style to kick up your feet after a long day and relax! I can see Eric and I hanging out outside after the babies are asleep playing games or just talking! I love the oversize chairs and would probably get two with a love-seat to complete our hang out area of the backyard! With a coffee table or fire-pit connecting the space. Outdoor lighting would be soft and strung above in a zigzag way creating a calm environment. I literally would never leave or fall asleep outside! A perfect space for family fun, outdoor entertaining and lots of memories!
Tomorrow we are still getting birthday stuff done, drinking a few smoothies and we're excited that its the weekend! Because next weekend we will be celebrating Aden turning ONE and our family will be here!!! ... SO EXCITED!!! -XO!
